The Apothecary Diaries is a popular Japanese historical mystery series by Natsu Hyūga, following Maomao, a young woman with extensive knowledge of herbal medicine, who is sold into servitude in the imperial palace and becomes embroiled in court intrigue and mysteries. Originally a web novel, it was adapted into a multi-volume light novel series, which has since inspired popular manga and anime adaptations.
